Alejandro Gadea

Bio

Born in Montevideo in 1963, Alejandro Gadea evinced his passion for painting from an early age. In 1969 he presented his first solo exhibition, entitled ‘A’, at the Aguerre Gallery in Montevideo, Uruguay, initiating a creative journey that still endures today. Since then, his artistic path, which now spans more than four decades, has been characterised by an incessant search and experimentation in the construction of a powerful abstract language.
Gadea has consolidated his career with exhibitions in various national and international venues. His exhibition ‘Pareidolia’ at the Ca Lambert Museum (Xabia, Spain 2024), participation in the Toni Marí Gallery (Denia, Spain, 2022), participation in the Centro Culturale di Milano (Italy, 2022), the Los Caracoles Gallery (José Ignacio, Uruguay, 2017), the Galería 6280 (Montevideo, Uruguay, 2015), the Galería Arte 21 (Almería, Spain, 2012), the Galería de las Misiones (Montevideo, Uruguay, 2010), and the experimental exhibition ‘15 días’ at the Espacio Imaginario Sur (Montevideo, Uruguay, 2006). Of special relevance is the solo exhibition of 25 works at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de El País in Montevideo (Uruguay) in 2009, as well as his participation in the group show ‘8 Abstracts’ at the same museum in 2011.
In 2019, he moved to Spain, where he continues his artistic and teaching work in his workshop and gallery Sudestada, located in the Marina Alta region, province of Alicante.
