Pareidolia
From the Greek eidolon (εἴδωλον) ‘figure’ or ‘image’ and the prefix para (παρά) ‘next to’ or ‘similar to’.
The human perceptual structure insists that we see faces and figures appearing and disappearing in the movement of clouds, in the damp patches on walls, in mountains, in roots, in stones - similarities.
Which part is an accident of perception and which is a deliberate pictorial act?
This exhibition invites us to find our own reflections in a dialogue full of spaces to be completed.
